Stage 2 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

 

Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) has been made aware of a recall involving nearly ten million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products from BrucePac.  The food is being recalled due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. The products were distributed to retail stores nationwide and may have been sold in Mesa County.



 

Description of recalled products

  • Ready-to-eat meat and poultry items.
  • Produced from June 19, 2024 to October 8, 2024.
  • Products have establishment numbers "51205 or P-51205" listed.
  • See the full list of products involved in the recall.

 

                

What should consumers do

  • Consumers should check their refrigerators or freezers for any of the recalled items.
  • Throw away the products or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
  • Consumers with questions may contact the company at 503-874-3000.
  • Visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture website for more information about the recalled items. 
  • Contact your doctor if you have concerns after eating the recalled products.



 

Listeria Description and Treatment

  • Eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis. This can cause a serious infection in young children, older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.
  • Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
  • In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. 
  • Serious and sometimes fatal infections are possible in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems. 
  • Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics. Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care.
