In an exclusive video, Gross reflects on her time in the foster care system, the challenges she faced, and the stability she ultimately found. Her journey underscores the profound impact that dedicated foster families, and a supportive community can have on a child's future.

“One of the foster families I lived with taught me critical financial literacy skills, which allowed me to buy my first home at 19,” Gross said. “The role of a foster family can truly be life-changing.”

Mesa County has a growing need for foster families to provide safe, loving homes for the more than 160 children and young people who enter foster care each year. Gross’s story is a testament to the lasting influence foster families can have and serves as a call to action for more individuals to step up and make a difference.

“All youth, especially those in foster care, need guidance and support to help them succeed,” Gross said. “Foster parents play an essential role in shaping futures, and I encourage anyone with the heart to help to consider fostering.”
